Take care of your tyres and they’ll look after you

exhibition-vehicle

Having a wide range of products means that at MVTech we also have a wide ranging group of clients and a very diverse one too!  Many of who employ full time drivers with others operating just a single vehicle and driving, not as a job, but as a means to an end. So demand upon our after sales support  do vary from client to client.

For those to whom driving is important, but not directly their livelihood, we think that with winter coming on now is perhaps a good time for a reminder about tyres.  Look after the tyres on your vehicle or trailer and they’ll look after you and your business.

After all it is worth remembering that travelling on defective tyres can cost you three penalty points per tyre and a full neglected set can present you with 12 penalty points and worse still a potential for a six month driving ban.  And that can seriously affect your business!

So as part of our after sale support   https://www.multivehicletechnology.co.uk/services/after-sales-support/  we always recommend you make checks.

Check on a daily basis

It only takes a minute or two to walk around your vehicle, trailer (or combination of both) to make a visual check for obvious damage in the form of bulges or cuts. And do check your wheel nuts, an action often neglected on trailers.  At the same time you can see if the tyres are over or under inflated.

Check your tyre pressures

Not only is it unsafe to drive with the wrong pressure, it hits your pocket too. So beware.  Under inflated tyres can cause wear and tear which can reduce the mileage by up to 25% and increase fuel consumption by as much as 3%. The more miles you travel the more you should check pressures but on average checking every two weeks is a wise move.

Check your tread depth

The quick and easy way for the nonprofessional driver to check tread depth is to take a 20 pence coin, pop it in the tread and if you can see the rim of the coin then get your tyres looked as they almost certainly will need changing.

These simple steps offer savings in so many ways ……so they are worth taking.  For more information always visit your tyre manufacturer’s web site for detailed technical information and more in depth advice.
