For those who would traditionally be expecting to purchase a body built chassis cab there is now a strong case for many of these folk to consider a panel van option.  With supply side issues improving, but still not resolved (I’m writing this blog in October 2022) the lead times from most chassis manufacturers remain too lengthy for many to accept.

OK, if you need lots and lots of load space then I would be the first to agree that one of our body built chassis cabs is the only way forward….unless of course you fancy a trailer, but that’s another option altogether!

So let’s focus back on van conversions.

So much a van conversion can do

You just have to look at the wide range of panel van conversions that we have produced to realise how flexible they must be.  Here is a far from comprehensive list of uses for we have been involved with

New or second hand

The first question we tend to be asked is “should we opt for new or second hand?”  And it’s a question to which there is no set answer.  Whilst budget plays a part it must be said that currently low mileage second hand vans are very much similar in price to new!  Very often the decision is therefore determined by availability and the urgency with which a vehicle is required.

A person planning a year ahead for a replacement camper van may be under no pressure whilst a company launching a new product may have a must have, immediate need.

That said we can help either way and if the decision is for new or second hand we can source a panel van for you.

But we’re really not fussed, if you wish to purchase the vehicle and supply it to us to undertake the conversion, then we are happy to work this or any other way to suit you.

But is a panel van conversion big enough?

Maybe this is a question asked early on and perhaps I have left it a bit late to mention in this blog.  Apologies!

Obviously there is a point at which a van is too small for the job you need to do.  But for many it’s quite a shock to see what can comfortably be fitted into an interior.  Floor space and headroom can easily accommodate people standing or sitting. Maximum internal space (depending upon make and model) can be around 4070 mm length by 1870 mm width and height of 2172 mm.

Individual Vehicle Approval

Whilst the majority of the panel van conversions we undertake do not need any additional IVA Inspection, a limited number of significant alterations do require the vehicle to be submitted for Approval by the Vehicle Certification Agency.
