Those, like me, with parents who grew up in the 60’s will no doubt have been brought up on tales of the Thunderbirds puppet series. So much so that even I know that Thunderbird 2 was the workhorse of the rescue fleet and able to carry a variety of detachable pods, with each individually fitted out to deal with a specific type of situation.

Now, some 50 years later that TV concept has been turned into reality by PlugVan. They have come up with an ingenious set of pods which slide in and out (very easily) of almost any van. Standard models currently include various camping versions, which I have detailed in a previous Blog.

By choosing this workshop pod it is possible to transform a standard panel van into a workplace fitted out with the equipment and storage you need for your business. You simply slide the fully kitted pod into the vehicle and remove it when not required. Releasing your van to be used for general transportation and multiple other purposes when the workshop is not required.

Flexible workshop

For those with a variety of differing service needs the mobile workshop pod becomes even more cost effective. What could be simpler than fitting out two or more units with totally different equipment (just as in Thunderbirds!). This way only one van is required to undertake a variety of activities.

These pods are completely separate from the base vehicle so that it can be changed at any time without any effort.

Bespoke internal fit outs for your mobile workshops

At MVTech we fully understand the need for the content of all mobile workshops to be bespoke to that business, after all we build plenty of traditional van conversions, so we do know from experience! As with our standard conversions the PlugVan pod allows us to customise the interior to your specific needs.

As an example, we can install items which include: Van Racking and shelving, drawer units, tool cases and trolleys, false floors, loading ramp, horizontal retractable systems, lighting and much much more. Some may require a range of welfare facilities, such as refreshments or hygiene, and these too can be provided.

Onboard power for site based workshops

As with any onsite work the probability is that your mobile workforce won’t have access to mains power to get the job done.

If this is an expectation, then don’t worry. We specialise in van base power systems which include the installation and commissioning of traditional generators any batteries plus alternative environmentally friendly technologies …….so that you never have to worry about powering your tools & appliances.
