Mobile library repair and refurbishment

Interior view of a mobile library repair and refurbishment project

Mobile library repair and refurbishment may be the pragmatic option for many operators this year.

New vehicles are on long delivery times at the moment which has implications for library services by Scott Walker

At the moment there is very little difference in the supply chain for new vehicles between the various manufacturers or drilling down, their own individual models. The “perfect storm” of Covid restrictions, microchip production (or lack of!) and distribution channels being blocked has not so much created a shortage of vehicles…just a very long delivery lead time.

For those lucky enough to have placed orders for new vehicles this year way back in 2021 then yes your vehicles will be turning up , although perhaps a little later than planned.

For those whose budgets are just being triggered by the turn of the year or those whose budgets won’t be authorised until April 6th I’m afraid you may well find it impossible to secure a new vehicle this year.

For this reason we are finding that many of our clients, when requesting and learning of availability of new, are finding it much more pragmatic to look to extend the life of their existing mobile libraries.

Mobile library maintenance and repair

At Multi Vehicle Technology we specialise in the repair of specialist vehicles such as mobile libraries and are more than happy to quote for and undertake a full range of repairs.

Mobile libraries, by the very nature of their role are worked hard and even if the engine and mechanics are perfectly maintained other aspects tend to suffer from wear and tear.  We can undertake a full range of body repairs, window replacements, passenger lift servicing along with repairs to all services such as heating, air conditioning and water supplies.

Mobile library transformation

Appearance and practicality are a very important part of a mobile library where image and the ability to attract and encourage its use is clearly important.  It’s very easy for an older design, colouring or layout to become dated.  Just as messages change and technology changes the interior needs to change to facilitate new requirements.  A very good and valid reason I would suggest for selling the existing and buying new.

But in todays’ market it makes an awful lot of sense to “make do and mend”……… as my Granny used to say!

At Multi Vehicle Technology we can totally transform both the external appearance and internal fit out with our refurbishment services. Whatever you need in a new vehicle we can do in an existing one. For example we can:

  • Change exterior paint finish and graphics
  • Add new features such as external awnings
  • Remove existing furniture and replace with new
  • Replace damaged shelving and replace with new
  • Install new LED lighting systems
  • Add or remove toilet facilities

These and many more practical changes can be made during a mobile library refurbishment to completely update and transform the use and appearance.

In short we can make an old vehicle look new! We can make an old vehicle operate and function as a new one would.

With either a small or major make over your visiting clients will be more than happy to come on board.

Taking this approach can overcome the current supply chain problems https://www.kroll.com/en/insights/publications/restructuring-advisory/the-road-ahead-what-does-2022-hold-for-the-automotive-supply-chain
